Connecting Basketball Players, Teams, to their Fans all over the World.
Our co-founders, Benoit Dujardin and Cedric Breton, are long-time basketball geeks from France. They met when Cedric was working as an intern for Basketzone.com, and Benoit was the CEO of the company editing the website. Impressed by the young man's work ethic, Benoit decided to partner with him when Basketzone was sold to the French magazine BasketNews, and to launch Proballers.com.
Since then, working from Poitiers (Benoit) and Paris (Cedric) and traveling throughout Europe, they have created a website, an app and an API service for professional teams. Proballers is first and foremost one of the most reliable and up-to-date basketball databases in the world. It includes compilations of more than 60,000 player profiles, 3000 team profiles, and 250,000 box scores.
Proballers delivers stats to basketball fans through it's iOS and Android App, and also to news websites (Sportando, Eurohoops), professional teams (Bourg-en-Bresse, Cholet, Chalon, Dijon, Gravelines-Dunkerque) and a national team (France).
With the smartphone App, fans can follow players from the top 75 leagues throughout the world and receive notifications every time they play. With the game becoming more global every day, it is a unique and must-have tool to stay connected to the players !
Proballers CEO Quick Bio
Benoit Dujardin grew up watching Michael Jordan lead the Chicago Bulls to six championships while Toni Kukoč, Dražen Petrović and other European stars made names for themselves in the NBA. Living in Poitiers, France, where there was no major basketball team at that time, Benoit was a supporter of Limoges CSP, and shed tears of joy in front of his TV set when the team won the Euroleague in 1993.
In 1999, Benoit launched his first company, Sportprod, editing Basketzone.com. The website quickly became the number one basketball website in France. From 1999 to 2011, Basketzone enabled him to cover many major events such as the NBA Finals, the French professional league and the French All-Star game.
While developing his network on a global scale, Benoit joined the rapidly rising Poitiers Basket 86 club in 2005. His local team had reached the third division, and was about to climb up to an even higher level. After 2 years working as a volunteer, he became the club's Marketing Director. From 2007 to 2014, he helped Poitiers raise its attendance from 500 to 4500. The club rose meteorically from the 3rd to the 1st French division. Poitiers was an inspiration for other teams in France on how to market the game in the new digital landscape.
In 2012, Dujardin directed a documentary on the local phenom Evan Fournier, who was on his way to being drafted by the Denver Nuggets ! His work with the Poitiers team put Benoit on the map, and he went on to sign contracts with the French pro basketball league (LNB), the French National Team and FIBA, as well, to work on video and digital marketing. This experience led him to work with the likes of Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, Nicolas Batum, Rudy Gobert, Nando De Colo and a number of other French stars, many of whom have played in the NBA.
What Benoit loves about Proballers is that « it is a great tool to promote player performances, and to keep the fans engaged, through constantly updated statistics ». « Basketball stats are a great tool for storytelling, as they help us to recognize greatness, as we compare stars from different eras. It also allows us to take notice of up and coming prospects throughout the world ». Thanks to Proballers, Benoît remains close to people in basketball throughout Europe and in the NBA.
